Welcome on board School Express, Inc., we are happy to have your child assigned to our transportation service. We would like to introduce you to our company and assure you that we will do our best to transport your child to and from school in a safe and timely manner.
Our drivers and staff have been specifically chosen and have completed several background checks: Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check, Pennsylvania Department of Education FBI Federal Criminal History Record, Pennsylvania Driving Record History, Pennsylvania School Bus Driver Physical, Pre-employment and random drug & alcohol screenings.
The safety of the students we transport is our #1 priority. S.E.I. vehicles are equipped with GPS tracking units providing 30 second updates on the location and speed of our vehicles. We also use video and audio equipment, giving us the ability to locate and monitor your child’s commute.
Our radio units are digital, giving our team two channels to commute; a private channel for confidential information and an open channel for team communication. Radio support is provided to our team throughout their workday.
It is important for students to be ready and waiting for the driver’s arrival five (5) minutes prior to their scheduled arrival time. Drivers wait one (1) minute for students to board, so please be prepared. If your child misses the van you will need to make arrangements for your child to get to school, our team is unable to return. If your child is taken into school late, parents/guardians must notify our office to indicate transportation is needed after school, please DO NOT assume the van will automatically show up.
If your child does not need transportation please contact our office as soon as possible; our staff will notify your child’s driver and their school. Do not contact drivers on their cell phones, cell phones are not permitted to be used in any manner when our vehicles are being operated.
Your child will follow the scheduled closings, delayed starts and early dismissals listed on the school calendar for the school your child attends. For weather or emergency closings, delays and early dismissals please review the details listed on the back of this letter.
Transportation pick up and drop off time changes may occur with the addition or cancellation of student assignments; we will notify you when necessary pick up and drop off time changes are needed to accommodate everyone on board.
To better assist our team with your child’s transportation please review the Student Conduct and Transportation Rules with your child and those involved with their care. We ask that you complete the Student Transportation Permission and Acknowledgement Form and return it to your driver the first day of transportation or soon after.

WEATHER & NON-WEATHER EMERGENCY DELAYS, EARLY DISMISSALS AND CLOSINGS
INCLEMENT WEATHER PROCEDURES: Families and guardians will follow weather closings for the school district your child attends as well as the home school district your child resides in. The School Express, Inc. team of drivers will do their best to remain on schedule during inclement weather and emergency conditions. Due to safety concerns drivers will not attempt to enter unplowed and icy roads or driveways. If pick up and drop off locations are not accessible we will contact you to arrange other accommodations. Please see the following details.
School Closings:
*If the school district your child attends is closed due to weather conditions you child will not attend school.
*If the home school district your child resides in is closed due to weather conditions your child will NOT be transported to the school they attended due to the unsafe road conditions in your area. Your child will be excused from school if this occurs.
Two Hour Delays:
*If the school district your child attends is operating on a two hour delay your child will be picked up two hours later than their regular scheduled time.
*If the home school district your child resides in is operating on a two hour delay due to the unsafe road conditions in your area your child will be picked up two hours later than their regular scheduled time. Your child will be excused for the late arrival if the school district they attend is not operating on a delay.
*If your child attends an AM preschool class at a school or school district that announces a two hour delay there will be no AM preschool class operating for the day. PM preschool classes will operate as scheduled without any delays.
*If your AM preschool child’s home school district they reside in announces a two hour delay due to unsafe road conditions in your area, but he school or school district your child attends is operating as scheduled, no transportation will be provided to students attending the AM preschool class. Your child will be excused if this occurs. PM preschool classes will operate as scheduled.
Early Dismissals:
*If the school district your child attends announces an early dismissals due to inclement weather please be prepared for your child to arrive home early following the dismissals time the school announces.
*If the home school district your child resides in announces an early dismissal due to inclement weather, please be prepared for your child to arrive home early we appreciate your understanding if your child arrives home later than expected due to road conditions.
*If your child attends a PM preschool class at a school or school district that announces early dismissals due to inclement weather there will be no PM preschool class. AM preschool will operate as scheduled without any early dismissals.
*If your PM Preschool child’s home district they reside in announces an early dismissals due to inclement weather, but the school district your child attends school is operating as scheduled, no transportation will be provided due to the unsafe road conditions. Your child will be excused if this occurs. AM preschool classes will operate as scheduled.
